TAO Downtown Nightclub is a drinks-only lounge at 369 W 16th St, run by Tao Group apart from the TAO Downtown restaurant, with hip-hop, R&B and top 40 from 11pm to 4am. It doesn't publish a dress code of its own; dress the way you would for Marquee and the other Chelsea table clubs: upscale, no athletic wear.

Club or restaurant?
Both, but not in the same room. TAO Downtown is best known as a restaurant, and Tao Group runs the nightclub as a separate, drinks-only lounge. So a dinner booking and a night in the club are two different plans: decide which one you want before you go, and don't count on dinner turning into the club.
The music
The club is the hip-hop end of Tao's Manhattan portfolio. Guides describe the sound as hip-hop, R&B and top 40, with some house. The November 2026 calendar has Thursday parties built on hip-hop and top 40. If you want big-room EDM instead, that's Marquee on 10th Avenue, from the same group.

Is there a dress code?
Not one that TAO prints. In practice it sits in the same few blocks as Marquee and Le Bain, and Marquee's door turns away shorts and athletic wear, according to 2026 guides. Dressing up is the safe choice.
