How to Get to Paradise
Paradise is at 101 Asbury Ave in Asbury Park, NJ 07712, with its entrance on the side of the Empress Hotel, steps from the boardwalk. Asbury Park has a station on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, which links the Shore with New York Penn Station.
Dress Code & Entry Requirements
Paradise doesn't publish a dress code on its website. Bring a valid ID: the club says proper ID is required at all times. For theme nights and pool days in summer, ask us on WhatsApp what people wear.
Asbury Park's gay club at the Empress Hotel
Paradise has been the gay club of Asbury Park since May 1999, when record producer Shep Pettibone, who had bought the Empress Hotel and its nightclub the year before, reopened it under the new name. It sits at 101 Asbury Ave, attached to the hotel, a few steps from the boardwalk, and the entrance is on the side of the Empress. Inside there are two main rooms, the main room and the Copper Bar, and outside there's a heated pool with a tiki bar. Drag is part of its identity: the club runs weekly drag shows and its own pageant, Miss Paradise, founded in 2000, whose winner gets a yearlong show at the club. Wikipedia calls it a popular Jersey Shore destination in summer, but unlike most of the Shore it stays open all year.
The week at Paradise
Paradise publishes its week on its website, and in November 2026 it looked like this. Monday is closed. Tuesday is bingo from 8pm to midnight. Wednesday is "Wednesdays with Ryan" from 7pm, and on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the club hosted the Diamond Race, a drag competition hosted by Miss Paradise 2022 Crystal Envy, at 8pm. Thursday is Wepa Latin Night from 8pm with a drag show at 9pm. Friday the bar opens at 5pm, with a drag show at 11:30pm and the bar open until 2am. Saturday is the club night: the Copper Bar opens at 3pm and the nightclub runs from 10pm to 2am with two DJs on two dance floors, with line dancing on November 7 and 21. Sunday the bar opens at 3pm, with karaoke from 8:30pm. Hours can change around holidays and special events.
Summer at Paradise: the pool and the big weekends
Summer is when Paradise feels most like a beach club. Its outdoor pool opens from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting, to registered hotel guests and bar patrons, and the tiki bar runs alongside it. The big summer weekends bring events from outside too: during the Asbury Park Bear Invasion, from July 31 to August 3, 2026, Paradise hosted the "Furball" dance party on Friday, July 31 from 10pm. If you're planning a Shore weekend, a birthday or a group night, message us on WhatsApp with the date and how many you are, and we'll tell you which night suits you. Asbury Park also has a station on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, which links the Shore with New York Penn Station, so check the last train if you're not staying over. For a different kind of Shore night, D'Jais in Belmar is the other Jersey Shore club on our guide.
